CleanUpNYC has no accounts and no server of its own. Your addresses and settings stay on your phone. To work, the app sends the address you look up to the public services below, and the free version shows ads from Google.
Your saved addresses, pickup schedules, reminder settings, and premium status. The app's developer doesn't receive any of it. If your phone backs up app data to your Apple or Google account, this data may be included.
NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY): your address, to look up your pickup days.
NYC Planning GeoSearch: what you type in the address box, to suggest addresses.
OpenStreetMap (Nominatim and map tiles): an address or coordinates to find a location, and the map area you're viewing. These requests may happen automatically when the app needs to fill in a house number or show your map.
unpkg: a request for the map software when a map loads.
Your phone's maker (Apple or Google): coordinates or an address, through the phone's built-in address lookup.
Each of these services also sees your IP address and handles it under its own privacy policy.
The app asks for your location only when you choose to use it to find your address, and only while the app is open. The app doesn't track your location in the background and doesn't save your position other than the address you add.
The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. Google may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, and how you interact with ads, and may use them to show and measure ads. If the law where you live requires your consent, the app asks first and you can change your choice in Settings. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Google explains how it uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Google Play or the App Store handles payment. The app only learns whether you've bought premium and never sees your payment details.
Product recommendations open Amazon, which has its own privacy policy. The developer may earn a commission on purchases made through those links.
Reminders are scheduled on your phone. No address or schedule is sent to a notification service.
Settings → Reset all preferences erases your addresses and schedules from the app. Uninstalling removes everything. The developer holds no copy to delete. To ask a service above to delete data, contact it directly.
The app isn't directed at children under 13, and the developer doesn't knowingly collect their information.
If this policy changes, the new version will appear here with a new date. For questions, use the developer contact on the app's store listing.
